1993 Turbo-S Convertible

The car:
This was a customers car, a very nice low mileage example but with a couple of visable corrosion issues. These on first glance looked very minor, but quite rightly he wanted the rust treated before it got any worse.
N/S front wing.
As can be seen, some bubbling of the paint was visable by the wheelarch trim:

Once the wheelarch trim and aero body panel were removed, we found that the entire wheelarch lip had corroded. All contaminated metal was removed and fresh metal welded in:

The corrosion had also extended into the inner arch, hidden behind the rubber aero panel fixing. Aagin the rusted part was cut out and fresh metal welded in and treated with anti-corrosion treatment before repainting:

O/S Windscreen surround:

A very small area of corrosion was visable 1/2 way up the o/s pillar. As windscreen frame corrosion can be very serious indeed in these convertibles, it was decided to remove the windscreen to see the extent of any corrosion:

Once the windscreen was removed it was evident that the corrosion had spread along the pillar and round onto the lower scuttle edge, but luckily not through the frame yet. The windscreen putty was removed, the whole area treated to anti- rust treatment, repainted and the whole surround repainted before the windscreen was refitted. Had this not been treated then, it would almost certainly have got a lot worse, unseen until too late!
