1990 Saab 900 T16 'Carlsson kit' Convertible

the car being worked on is the black convertible with the Carlsson bodykit (on the right). We will be repainting the exterior of the car, fitting a new headlining, walnut dashboard and a few other things.
First job will be to strip everything off the exterior prior to sending to the bodyshop:

car with bodykit removed. with the bumpers/arch trims and skirts removed it was apparant that the front of the car had been subjected to quite a few bad repairs in the past. I'd go as far as to say someone has spent a lot of time and effort to make a bad job of the hidden parts!
the worst areas are the bonnet, both front wings and the inner arches. strangly the rest of the car from the doors to the back are in remarkably good shape, only very small localised areas on the rear arches that need attemtion. Looks like a replacement bonnet, front wings and inner arches need replacement. We'll know more when we have ground back the affected areas to good metal:

Pictures below: The dashboard ventilation wasn't working from the drivers side vent, so after removing the dashboard we found that the ventilation pipe had previously been torn and trapped behind the speedometer housing!
When removng the dashboard we found a mixture of cross head screws and torx screws, also the speedometer housing itself had been broken around a couple of the retaining screws. Looks like the instruments had previously been removed, trapping the ventilation pipes, and been put back quite carelessly.
Replacement ventilation hose fitting required the removal of the dashboard, complete fascia, lower knee roll, center console and lower heater ducting:

The original door cards were split along the map pockets, Replacement door cards have additional leather over the armrests. Headlining replaced as the original had stretched and was sagging over the drivers head!:
